MyWords

Support

Nearly everything people write in about is one of the things below, and each one has an answer you can use without waiting for us.

Write to us

[email protected] is the one address for everything: support, lost keys, refunds and privacy requests. A person reads it and writes back.

I have lost my licence key

Keys can be sent again. They are issued against the email address you bought under, so the same key can always be re-sent — nothing is lost for good and you never have to buy twice. Write from the address you used at checkout, with the order number from your receipt if you have it, and you get the same key back.

I have a new Mac

Install MyWords, paste the same key, and you are done. The licence is not tied to a machine. There is no seat to free up and no activation to undo first — nothing calls home, so nothing can turn you away.

Your history does not travel with the key. It is a database in your own user account, so it comes across with Migration Assistant or a Time Machine restore in the ordinary way.

Something is not working

The text does not appear anywhere

That is the Accessibility permission. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch MyWords on. If it is already on, switch it off and on again — macOS sometimes holds on to a stale permission after an app updates.

It cannot hear me

System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. While you are there, check which input device is selected in Sound.

A model will not download

Downloads are checked against a published hash, so a partial or altered file is thrown away rather than used. Delete it on the Models screen and download it again; models live in ~/Library/MyWords/Models/.

It says it cannot check for updates

The update feed lives on this site. If a check fails, the download page always has the current version: download MyWords.

If you do write to us

Please do not send a transcript or a recording unless you want to. Nothing about a take reaches us on its own, and we do not need it to help.
