MyWords

What changed

Every change you would actually notice, newest first. This is the same text the app shows you when it offers an update — both are written from one file, so the two cannot drift apart.

3.4.1 Current

14 October 2026

Changed

  • MyWords has a new icon: a speech bubble replaces the sound wave. On a Retina display the largest sizes, in Finder and the Dock, are now drawn from a full-resolution image instead of being enlarged from a smaller one, so they are sharp.

Changed

  • Polishing with a downloaded model is much faster. The instructions that open every polish are now kept ready between takes instead of being read again each time, so on a short or medium dictation the polished text starts arriving almost as soon as you stop talking. The model also checks the words it is likely to keep from your transcript several at a time rather than writing every word one by one, which makes long dictations quicker too. The first take after the model loads, or after you switch Style or language, waits as long as it used to.

Fixed

  • A Style set to its own polishing model, or to Apple Intelligence, now gets that engine ready while you talk, the way the default model always did. Before, the first polish in such a Style waited for its model to load after you stopped talking. Apple Intelligence polishing also starts sooner, because the session prepared while you talk is now the one that does the polishing.

3.3.1

Fixed

  • Licence keys from your purchase now unlock MyWords. Until now the app rejected a genuine key with "That key's signature doesn't check out" and kept counting the trial. If you bought a key, paste it on the License screen and press Activate: it is accepted, and MyWords stays unlocked from then on.

3.3.0

Added

  • Portuguese dictation is polished in Portuguese. When what you said is Portuguese, every style now answers in Portuguese instead of sometimes drifting into English, and Portuguese filler words are tidied away the way English ones are. On the downloadable polishing models this takes a second or two longer than an English take; English dictation is exactly as it was.
  • "Reset Onboarding…" in the MyWords menu, beside Check for Updates, shows the setup screens again. It asks first, and it only resets setup: your trial or licence, downloaded models, history and Styles are left as they are.

Changed

  • Setting up MyWords is now two short screens instead of five. The first checks the three things dictation needs — a speech engine, the microphone and Accessibility — and offers the button for whichever isn't ready yet; the second shows the key that starts dictation and invites you to press it. Styles, the polishing engine and the other shortcuts start on sensible defaults, and are changed on the Styles, Models, Behaviors and Key Binds screens as before.
  • A button that can't be pressed during setup now says why, right beside it.
  • If you choose Apple Speech during setup and your language isn't on this Mac yet, setup names it and offers to download it, so your first dictation doesn't have to wait for it.
  • Apple Speech now listens in your language. It follows the order of your Mac's preferred languages and uses the first one it supports, so a Mac set to Portuguese (Brazil) is transcribed in Portuguese rather than English. English is the fallback when none of your languages is supported.
  • The dictation key is described the way it works: press it, talk, and press it again. The hints on the History screen, the capture deck and the Key Binds screen now show the key you actually chose rather than ⌥Space, and the slim strip says START or STOP for what the next press will do. How the key behaves is unchanged.
  • The minutes on the capture deck now read DICTATED THIS WEEK, because that is what they count. They were easy to mistake for the trial's total, which counts every minute you have ever dictated.

Fixed

  • Dictating with Apple Speech no longer fails with "No common audio format among modules" when your language had never been downloaded to this Mac. MyWords now fetches the language itself, and if that can't happen the panel says what went wrong and what to try.
