MyWords

Terms of use

Buying MyWords buys you a licence to run it. This page says what that covers, in the fewest words it can be said in.

The sale itself is made by Polar, the merchant of record: they take the payment, charge any tax due and issue the receipt, under their own terms of sale. The licence the sale buys is granted by The Side Journey, the trading name of Songscape Unipessoal Lda, Portugal, on the terms below.

The licence

The trial

30 minutes of transcribed audio, free, counted once for the life of the install rather than every month. Getting around the counter — by editing its records or any other way — is not something this licence lets you do.

What you make with it

Yours. What you dictate is your writing, it never reaches us, and we claim nothing in it.

What the software does not promise

MyWords is provided as it is. Speech recognition makes mistakes, and a rewrite can change a meaning you cared about, so read what comes out before you send it. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for what follows from using the app, and our liability in any case is limited to what you paid for the licence. None of this removes rights your local consumer law gives you.

Other people’s work

MyWords includes open-source libraries and machine-learning models, each under its own licence. The full list is in the app, on the Acknowledgements screen.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version applies to purchases made after it is published. It does not reach back and alter a licence you have already bought.

Governing law

This licence is governed by the laws of Portugal. If you are a consumer, the protections of the law where you live still apply, and nothing here takes them away.
